Round 16 didn’t go to plan for the Shoremen and they get their chance to rectify that this Saturday.

As Round 17 heads to Sydney University Oval No.2 in the 7 Two Match of the Round.

It is set to be an epic battle for a home ground qualifying final in two weeks time, as 3rd placed Sydney University and 4th placed Norths are separated by 2 competition points on 10 wins and 5 losses apiece.

After an agonising loss to Gordon in front of a strong crowd at North Sydney Oval, Norths meet Sydney University coming off the back of two away victories over Easts and Souths in the recent weeks.

The last time these two met, it was an intercept try that eventually separated the pair 29 – 24 in favor of Sydney University, back in round 6 at North Sydney Oval.

Waratahs backrower and previous forward of the year, Michael Wells comes into the side this week & replaces fellow Waratah Will Miller who came off in the 2nd half with a minor hamstring niggle.

Having juggled both Super Ruby and World Series 7’s for the past 18 months, Wells is a very handy injection back into the team just weeks before a finals series. A member of the 2016 premiership team, his experience will be invaluable as a host of Super Rugby players float back into their respective clubs.

Round 17 will also see the stalwart prop and one club favorite Lawrance Hunting reach his milestone of 100 Grade Games.
