Northern Suburbs v Eastern Suburbs

Back at the spiritual home of North Sydney Oval for Round 6 of the Intrust Super Shute Shield.

For yet another defence of the Sir Roden Cutler Shield, The Shoreman were back at home and keen to continue as a front runner in this year’s competition.

There was plenty of rugby on offer throughout the day to keep any local punter happy with 5th Grade chalking up their maiden win for 2017 in the early hours.
A long drawn out second half for The Shoreman faithful as 1st Grade their 6th win to start the season. A match that kept all their supporters on the edge of their seat for entire 80 minutes.

A blistering break from winger Richie Woolf down the right hand touch line before finding Gary Bautz in support to open norths account. It was Richie Woolf in his right hand corner again (a sight I’m sure many remember well). With Angus Sinclairs astute right boot landing both conversions. It was a tight first stanza at 14 – 7, before Taylor Francis crossed just as the bell rang out.
Trading tries and yellow cards in the 2nd stanza, Lochie Creagh showed he is certainly a form winger for 2017 crossing for yet another 5 pointer.
Easts weren’t ready to give up the fight and crawled back to get within 2 points at the 60 minute mark & that’s where is stayed. A cliff hanging 20 minutes for the supporters, before the ball was finally put to bed.
