Around the Grounds - Round 18

Manly (3rd) v Sydney University (2nd)

Uni cruised to a 41-point, which was never really going any other way.

They will relish a tough game in preparation for the finals & be keeping a close eye on the Norths v Easts result

Manly made it 5 losses from 6 rounds and there is no respite. Their once 9-point buffer on the top 4, now reduced to 4. Can they squeeze out a single bonus to earn themselves a second finals chance?

Randwick (5th) v Souths (12th)

Randwick have grown another leg having sat 8th just 3 weeks ago.

A strong chance to break into the top 4, the return of Ben Donaldson and Andrew Deegan has no doubt been very welcomed at Coogee Oval.

This could go one of two ways for Souths after a very long season, how much fight have they got left as they play for pride?

Gordon (7th) v Hunter (9th)

With Rats, Randwick and Eastwood all expected to be winning, 7th may be as good as it gets for Gordon who will have to do it the hard way.

Will it be close but no cigar for Hunter who are chasing the maximum and will still rely on the North's Easts result.

Or will they enjoy their bus trip home?

West Harbour (11th) v Warringah (4th)

Like Randwick, Rats too sat 7th 3 weeks ago and looked all but done for the year. Flying under the radar they've crept to 4th and will be hunting their beaches rivals to jump into 3rd.

2 and a half wins is where it ended for the Pirates.

Two Blues (10th) v Eastwood (6th)

Like Gordon, Eastwood's future should be a fait accompli.

their form though is as hard to follow as is their team selection. With regular winger Fabian Goodall at inside centre and Muliufi alongside previous captain Chris Bell on the bench.

Expect that to change.

The Two Blues have been brave and overachieved by anyone's measurement with wins over Uni, Norths, Randwick & Warringah and that is all she wrote.
