The Shoremen Report // Round 6

The past fortnight had the opportunity to stretch the competition ladder apart or tighten it right up & tighten it did. As 8 teams sit 5th to 12th on 2 wins, separated by only 3 points.

A second-half fightback to get within 2 points of Manly and take away 2 bonus points for the second week in a row will be crucial in the latter stages of the season. With an 8-team finals series, a position in the Top 4 will play an important part in who holds the shield in September.

Following back to back away games, Norths return home to North Sydney Oval for just their second home game of the season. Having missed the opportunity to claim the Sir Roden Cutler Shield last week, Norths will be desperate not to let the John Thornett Cup from their grasp.

The two sides missed each other in 2021 and in the Qualifying Final of 2022 it was Norths who came from behind to claim a 24 - 22 win, ending Uni's run in the shortened season. However, head to head Sydney University had a 4 game win streak and have claimed 5 of the last 8 encounters.

An injury in the back row to Charlie Jeavons-Fellows (Concussion) has forced to Beer make a reshuffle with Hamish Sinclair joining the back row. Meanwhile, its an opportune time for Max Burey to make his return from an ankle injury replacing Angus Sinclair who is unavailable at fly-half.

IN: Max Burey, Brodie Leber / Hamish Sinclair

OUT: Angus Sinclair (Unavailable), Charlie Jeavons-Fellows (Concussion)

Tickets: IWannaTicket // Norths v Sydney University
