The Shoremen Report // Round 8

When there's a will, there's a way! While it was far from clinical or polished, the fight from 0-21 down against the arch-rivals will certainly be one to look back on in the months to come. Having been on the receiving end of narrow margins in recent weeks, it was only fitting to celebrate a win in Angus Sinclair's 100th 1st Grade Game.

However, the Shute Shield doesn't give up so easily. As Norths return home the task gets no easier against a formidable West Harbour, who despite sitting at the bottom in 12th are only 1 win from the top 8.

Another opportunity for the competition to widen and a top half to become clearer should results go as expected.

No sooner was Charlie Jeavons-Fellows listed as an IN last week, he was once again ruled out as he recovers from Concussion. This week, Charlie replaces Boston Kerapa who suffered his own concussion in last week's gritty win & returns to the backrow alongside Brad Hemopo who made a timely return from Japan last week.

Max Burey was another late withdrawal last week, however, livewire Winiata Cherrington whose form in the lower grades has been too good not to promote. The livewire full has been described as a "walking highlights reel". Winnie will join fellow debutant in the back three, Jamie Mazzarol-Kotz, replacing Reece Mau'u (Knee) on the left-wing.

And congratulations to Nathan Russell who will make his 50th 1st Grade appearance on Saturday. Russ has become a mainstay of the midfield since 2020 and become one of the competitions form centres.

IN: Winiata Cherrington, Jamie Mazzarol-Kotz, Charlie Jeavons-Fellows
OUT: Matt Ryan (2nd Grade), Reece Mau'u (Knee), Boston Kerapa (Concussion)
