Around the Grounds

The 2020 Shute Shield season is heating up on and off the field.

Eastwood v Warringah
Needing the maximin from their remaining two rounds, Warringah has everything to play for to salvage something from their season which never quite got out of first gear. While this presents Eastwood the opportunity to climb into 3rd place, no team has won the comp outside the top 4 in the past 5 seasons. With Gordon to follow at home in round 13, the woods will be eager to bank this one. (Eastwood by 12)

Southern Districts v Manly
While Manly's season is now confirmed finished with the round 13 bye ahead. Southern Districts have the doorway to the finals series left slightly ajar and can climb into the top 6 with a win in this one (should other results also fall their way). With two very winnable games ahead for the hobbits, they need to find that form that saw them topple Sydney Uni, Eastwood and Warringah. (Souths by 5)

Two Blues v Eastern Suburbs
Always spirited the Two Blues, last week's loss to West Harbour would have hurt and it doesn't get any easier this week. Eastern Suburbs climbing the ladder fast, could be as high as 4th at the end of this one. (Easts 25+)

Penrith v Gordon
The more interesting point of this match will be the Gordon team list, with 1st playing 13th just two weeks from the finals. (Gordon by 30+)

Hunter v West Harbour
Despite the single win this season, Hunter has given a good account of themselves and will be eyeing off a couple more 4 pointers before the season's end. A trip north isn't probably one the pirates will be looking forward to after a season that hasn't quite gone the way they would have liked. Strong in their win over the Two Blues last week at home. (Hunter by 10)
