We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Hugh Sinclair as the new Head Coach of the Northern Suburbs Colts Program for 2026!
A proud product of the Norths Colts Program himself, Hugh brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role. His decorated career includes a Shute Shield Premiership in 2016 and seven years with the NSW Waratahs, including a final game as Captain of the NSW Waratahs in their narrow loss to the British and Irish Lions. Hugh earned respect for his leadership, professionalism, and relentless work ethic all throughout his career. All attributes we are excited for him to pass onto aspiring Colts.
A few words from Hugh:
My rugby career started in 3rd Colts with Norths and the support and development I received from my coaches through to 1st grade helped me develop into a professional rugby player and compete against some of the world’s best players. I’m keen to pass on some of my experience and skills to the next generation of players that choose Northern Suburbs to help them explore a professional rugby career and as they step away from school into the next stage of their lives.
Club President, Brad Leahy said:
Hugh’s journey from grassroots to elite rugby makes him the perfect fit to guide the next generation of Northern Suburbs Colts. His commitment to development, culture, and high-performance standards will be instrumental as we build towards an exciting future. Hugh’s appointment and the recent announcement of the Blair Swannell Academy are the start of a step change for our Junior Pathways for 2026 and beyond. Hugh played over 100 grade games for Norths, an integral part of the team’s success and leadership group for nearly a decade. His deep understanding of what it takes to progress from an aspiring Colts player, through grade and into professional rugby will be invaluable to the Colts that join us in 2026.
