Round 10 Preview 'Battle of the North Shore'

At the beginning of 2020, few would have predicted the way the season has gone and more than likely fewer would have predicted the Round 10 match between north shore rivals would be a top of the table clash.

'On the road' in 2020 has proven no obstacle for Norths this season and head to Chatswood Oval with 7 wins, 1 loss to perch up 2nd after a big win over Randwick at Pittwater Rugby Park.

Coming from 5th a fortnight ago, Norths have gone on to knock over heavyweights Eastwood and Randwick and will be out to continue this trend in the local derby.

Gordon has been the team on most spectators lips, having gone from missing the finals in the in 2019 (and previous years) to competition favorites before round 1, coached by premiership winner Darren Coleman.

While both teams have an abundance of talent out wide and two astute flyhalves at the helm, it is the scrum, lineout and forward play where the game could be decided.

A month ago, Gordon put together a dominant display to rip Warringah apart (52-7). Meanwhile, the Norths scrum anchored by German Haeffeli and Dewald Dewald has gone from strength to strength in recent weeks, so too Dave Henaway and Declan Carroll's lineout work in the absence of skipper Nick Palmer.

With both teams all but confirmed a place in the finals, both teams are out for much more than 4 competition points. With both local bragging rights and the Baxter Mortlock Cup up for grabs, this game is sure to be one not to miss.

Norths are unchanged for the first time in a number of weeks. Combinations starting to click with 6 different try scorers last week, the forwards and backs interchange play on attack a pretty sight to watch.
