From the Sideline

A tough day out as Easts claim all 7 grades.

Norths unbeaten streak came to a halt at a windy Woollahra Oval, as Easts breathed new life into their 2020 campaign.

Having gone down in all previous grades throughout Friday night and the morning, 1st Grade got off to shaky start conceding back to back penalties, leading to a try in the early minutes.

Playing with the wind at their back, Norths found some rhythm looking fast and crisp through their backline plays, as Nathan Russell leveled the scores when he burst through straight from the ruck.

Norths took the ascendancy through general phase play when fullback Max Burey sliced through from a perfectly crafted set play, finding backrower Heinrich Brendel in support to take the lead 14 - 7.

The lead short-lived after multiple scrum penalties as prop Jack Brewer saw a yellow card and Easts leveled the score on halftime.

Strong defensive efforts stopped either team building any momentum, with Easts opting for a penalty goal before crossing the line once in the 2nd half.

Despite the loss, Norths remain one win inside the top 6 nearing the halfway mark of the season. Traveling to Camden for a home away from home game against the Two Blues in Round 7.
