Shoremen Head to Canberra

The Shoremen head south on the Hume Highway to open the 2021 trial season against the reigning John I Dent Cup Premiers, Canberra Royals.

The Royals Clubs has strong links to the Shoremen through 2020 stand-in skipper Harry Burey, while former 4th Grade cult hero Karl Truijens was part of their 1st Grade Premiership last season.

The opening trial will see a handful of regular 1st Grade players Nick Duffy (Knee Injury), Harry Burey (Away) & Max Burey (Waratahs A) unavailable and providing a great opportunity for Head Coach Zak Beer to run his eye over new recruit James Turner (Wing) and Colts Lock Sam Shepherd.

Meanwhile, the annual Red v White internal trial match claimed a few casualties at the weekend with backrow recruit Brodie Leber (ankle) and winger Dele Lokotui (Hamstring) both set to miss the trial period.

The hamstring injury adds to woes for the electric winger Lokotui as he missed the entire 2020 with an achilles rupture. He joins his brother Kepu on the sideline who dislocated his shoulder in the recent Kiama 7's.

Trial 1 v Canberra Royals, Saturday, March 13th @ RMC Duntroon

1st Colts - 12 Noon
2nd Grade - 1:25 pm
1st Grade - 3:00 pm
