Northern Suburbs will get the first crack at the reigning Premiers and recently crowned Australian Club Champions when they head to the varsity on Saturday afternoon.

With the Semi-Final of 2022 in the rearview, Norths will be looking to continue their run of 7 consecutive years opening round victories while aiming to reclaim the John Thornett Cup.

North's have been convincing winners in their opening trials against Warringah and Eastern Suburbs, each over 50 points. Before a stiffer trial against Eastwood at the weekend & will take great confidence from this from heading into Round 1, having used a number of players across various positions.

Norths have once again injected some starch into the front row over the off-season, welcoming Michael Scott to the club. The front-row dismantling opposition through the trials and face its litmus test this Saturday.

Alongside Scott, Norths have named a plethora of debutants amongst a very familiar team lineup. Other off-season signings, Saxon Gillies (Lock), Luke Gersekowski (No.8) & Jude Gibbs (Fly-Half) Ratu Tagive (Wing) & Henry O'Donnell (Midfield) have settled well into the fold, each having big impacts through the trials.

At 19 years old, O'Donnell's debut completes a full circle having captained the Norths Juniors U/15 State Championships winning side.
