From the Sideline

Another physical battle and 6 second-half tries have pushed Norths to the top of the ladder after the opening 2 rounds.

A new look Penrith were welcomed back in the competition for their first game since 2018 and the 50 point margin was by no means a reflection of the match.

A scrappy first half dominated by handling errors and a high number of ruck penalties, centre Harry Burrey crossed the line midway through the first half before he was on the receiving end of a yellow card. As teams traded penalty goals, Penrith were too shown a yellow card before Norths crossed again through winger Reece Mau'u.

A half time lead (13 - 3) many may have not anticipated.

Max Burey then opened Norths second half account early on before a weight of possession and territory Reece Mau'u had his second. Captain Nick Palmer claimed a try for his countless ball carry efforts and soon after two rolling maul tries to replacements Isaac Cavu and Jesse Muir pushed Norths further in front.

Replacement lock George Murrin bagged a cheeky 5 pointer when a hole opened on the edge of the ruck near on full time.

Another strong defensive effort has kept a clean sheet for the second week and edges Norths to the top of the ladder on points difference over Gordon.
